Who we are and our background.
ZeroThree is a small family 'team' business based in Melbourne. We have been Authorised Apple Resellers for over a decade and take enormous pride in what we do being insanely passionate about giving real customer service and really knowing our stuff - rather than just pretending to 'appear' as if we do to somehow give us fake credibility. We do not advertise to any extent . Our business is based solely on word-of-mouth. Our main office and centre of operations is also based in Melbourne.
We are an Apple Platinum Reseller and are listed on the Apple website. Our business first started in the UK back in the mid 1990's as a small Apple consultancy born out of frustration from the lack of specialised and informed knowledge about an industry and product that was set to be the biggest revolution of our time. Demand and thirst for real, qualified knowledge about Information Technology and the way this new, exploding asset could be applied to benefit business and to gain competitive advantage was extreme, and as such, an ever-wideneing niche needed to be filled. The backbone of ZeroThree from founders point of view, Darren Froggatt, was the lesser known, niche-targeted yet far more powerful and reliable platform to build on - the Apple Macintosh. Initially sneaking under the radar for the formative years of big-business I.T., the resultant benefits today are staggering.
As ZeroThree grew, sales volumes of the Apple Macintosh started growing at a staggering rate - mainly in print and design and as soon as the PowerMac 8100 AV was released, we immediately created a new channel in Central England into AV Production, with the PowerMac 8100 and then 8500 - being capable of capturing digital video and also, if given enough RAM (And by that I mean up to 16Mb - yes 16Mb not even 256Mb that everyone would spit at these days!) the PowerMac was even capable of some pretty cool 3D animation that became another high demand area in corporate digital video - so we immediately started doing just that with a program called Infini-D.
Simultaneously, we opened a second specialised distribution and production channel in Video, using the Apple Mac as a platform. At around the same time, usable laptops emerged - namely the Powerbook 5300cs and then the 5300c. There was a big difference between these two. The CS has a 'passive matrix screen' meaning refresh rates were rubbish and any moving graphics became all blurry - not a bad effort though for the first colour LCD screen ever released on a laptop...... And then very shortly afterwards, came the 5300c. This has the 'Active Matrix' display and was pretty much the start of the LCD screen revolution. Armed with this laptop, demand in the field sales area went through the roof, as larger companies who could afford it, armed their sales forces with this Mac.
Progression and our first main move to London
Resulting from an extremely prolific grape-vine in the UK, we progressed into London with demand for installations into recording studios, video edit facilities and design / production going skywards. Completely overwhelmed by demand and work we began to centralise our resources and decided not to expand as everyone else was, and instead retain the area of our business that had taken us so far - a close, friendly, available, extremely efficient and an extremely low-cost service our customers prefer. It wasnt really rocket science to work out that whilst everyone else out there was busting a gut to try and sell as many boxes as possible opening up shop after shop as forgetting the important factor that made us what we are today, and in fact the rock of any sucessful business - and that's good old fashioned, real service, and never forgetting it is our customers who are our lifeblood. Something that regardless of how automated on-line systems become, we will always retain until such a point that it is no longer desired by our customers. And that's the bottom line at ZeroThree and always has been. What we do is based on what our customer wants. Not the other way around. Ever.
The move from the UK to Australia and onwards
Darren Froggatt, founder fo ZeroThree moved to Australia in 2004 where the same business model was immediately established in Melbourne. Why did the compnay move ?. Well, very simply, a girlfriend and a desire to settle in a much more relaxed, vast land that he now calls home.
The website was built from the ground up by Darren, all necessary industry links established and our Authorised Reseller status switched over from the UK to Australia - and so trading began. Within a couple of short months, the company had already hit sales volumes of just over 80k per month. Very quickly, we established Platinum Status resulting solely from the principals we festidiously maintain and proof of our efforts in the testimonials we receive each month - voluntarily.
